A funny thought occurred to me the other day when I saw the word disease.

When you break it down, it looks like this:

"Dis" and "ease"

"Dis" meaning not (as in disconnect - not connected)

And "ease" as in (relaxed)

So you put those two together, disease means not ease or not at ease,
which can be construed also as another term for stress.

Whether or not the word was created with that in mind, I don't know.

But it makes sense.

Obviously not all disease comes from stress, but a great majority can come from
a result of great stress.

So a gentle reminder to not stress out so much that you tax your body
and leave it open for infection.

Because without your health, you have very little indeed.

I owe some of you emails and entry comments, so I wanted to just post a big umbrella message here to say that my appearances online might be sparse for the next two weeks. I'm (finally!) moving into the new apartment, while still trying to finish up grad school applications, and the internet isn't set up there just yet. So! Please bear with me. Yup. My silk twill is very similar to habotai in the way it does not like to dye ;) The weave is extremely smooth and close together so the dye doesn't have much of a chance to really get into the fibres. Still it does mean less chance of uneven dyeing when it's hard to get colour in in the first place ;). I can just over dye again tomorrow to get the depth of colour I want. It's close to what I want just a little pale still.

So I finally got it washed and dried and it is too light. However remembering how difficult it is to dye I just popped the silk straight back into the dye bath without wetting it first and voila. Perfect result.

Now to make sure the washing machine is able to finish washing some towels and then I get to wash and dry the silk.

Just testing the best way to cut the saree into a faldallin as the repeat pattern is quite wide but also uneven. I decided to just line it with the same brown linen I'm using for the verdugardos. so I may just get cutting and see...

Poor Thanksgiving gets left out again.

The blouse was finished in time for Halloween (and worn) the capplette was finished shortly after Halloween and the jsk is yet to be started. ;>_> I basically had real life explode in my face over the course of October. We had a new and THANK GOD temporary manager at work, who seemed to make it a point to make my life/job a living hell and then have THE GALL to TELL ME that is was all MY fault. This left me with about a month of bad days and so completely burnout by the time I got home that all I wanted to do was sleep the rest of the day. No surprise there, that I didn't get my sewing projects completed on time. ( Anyway, blouse and capplette pics- )

Holiday Ornament Bustle Skirt
I scored about 3 2/3 yds of dark navy with gold Daisy Kingdom "ANGELS ORNAMENTS BORDER" Christmas Fabric on ebay for ~$15! Oh what a skirt it will make~ I'm not a huge navy person and I really don't like gold AT ALL, so I decided to coordinate it with cream. In turn, I also decided that I needed to incorporate said cream into the skirt in some way. Voila, bustle skirt (idea) is born. Thanks to all the responses on my question post about the construction this skirt, I have a pretty good idea of where I'm going with it. I intend to make a matching AP style bow & pearls broach and maybe a head bow (If any of you can think of something classier then a headbow for this project I'll welcome the input). ( Sketch of design and fabric shot to oooo and aaaaah at. =P )
