I went to Germany to grocery-shop and found speculaas-filled chocolate!!! Most awesome.

I borrowed a separate flash unit from T, for a photoshoot. I always said flash was invented by the devil (because most flash pictures have red eyes, shiny foreheads, burned-out whites, and harsh shadows.) But I really have to change my mind, this flash is soo nice and soft and just right :)

The weather was really strange today, with lots of fog. It makes you wish for mulled wine.

All through making this dress, I only listened to Rammstein's Sehnsucht. Mostly not even the album, just the song, on repeat. Sometimes I'm a bit monomanic. This dress was made especially to go with the shoes, for a (belated) Halloween party! :)

We had hearty food in an effort to not go hungry at night. It didn't work, so we ended up eating sandwiches in the kitchen after coming back.

We're going to a The Cure party tonight! T smells of hairspray, you can smell it on the other side of the room. And we listen to Siouxsie :) Above are the last tomatoes from the garden and an upside-down onion pie, which was beyond good.

New dress

This is the other new green dress, from brand Infanta.

I cannot tell you how much I paid because you will want to come over and steal my bargain-hunting-skills while I sleep, that simply wouldn't do. I love it loads, it's really nice and heavy! Also I should find some new ways to take pictures of myself apparently D:

Culinary adventures

a spoonful of butter
an egg
a pinch of salt
two spoons of sugar
a spoonful of vegetable oil
a banana that's gone pretty soft and mushy
about 200 grams of selfrising flour
pecans or walnuts

Mix everything together starting from the top of the list, until you have a thick dough. If it's too thin, you can add some (selfrising) flour, if it's too thick you can add some water or vegetable oil. Bake at 170 degrees for about 25 minutes, or until firm.

pears for poaching, about two or three a person
some red wine, cheap one will do
cinnamon sticks
one or two spoons of sugar
about 3 cloves

Peel the pears, and let it all simmer for 3 to 4 hours or until the pears are really soft. If the wine boils down too much, add water.

an onion
a zucchini
cream
some flour
broth
some parmezan

Dice and bake the onion and the zucchini until they're glazed and softened a bit, then add broth (either ready made or powder, and some water.) Let it boil for a bit, then blend it with a blender or mixer. Put it back on the heater, add some cream for taste, or some flour if you want to thicken it. Sprinkle with parmezan before serving.

World's nicest shop

I told my mommy that after seeing this shop, I'd have to gauge my eyes out, because nothing else would ever seem beautiful again. (She did not think that was funny.) It was the bestest, prettiest shop I've seen in a long time.

I bought loads of Christmas stuff! I bought a snowflake garland, a wreath, an Amaryllis bulb, Christmas napkins (haha!) I'm so ready for Christmas :D

Can you believe people eat them voluntarily though? :o I went to an autumn fair in a big farmers' stable hoping to buy pumpkins, but there weren't any. I did buy tons of walnuts and pears for poaching, and a cute vintage rose vase though :)

Can you believe I found this dress at the thriftstore? I feel like a thrifting wizz! It's a summer dress though, and it's kinda pretty small, so I have to make sure not to gain any weight before next summer or it wouldn't even fit ;_;

We spend a lot of time in the garden, planting many flower bulbs and harvesting these cute tiiiny bell peppers! Here is a bento I made with them:

Last weekend I went to watch the floats, this float was from the Farmers Association! I think farmers associations are quite cool.

We made pumpkin pie from scratch. Ugh, it's hard work! It was so worth it though because we got five pies from a small pumpkin and ate them for dinner and lunch and then vowed to never eat any other vegetables, ever, because it was so so so good!

I found about 10 metres of organdy at the thriftstore, for €0.30. After paying, I dashed out of the store, heart beating fast. I really did feel like I was robbing them! What a find though :)

Into the corn maze!

We went to visit the corn maze, which was pretty fantastic and exciting! Sometimes you met people inside the maze (some hastily stashing their pockets with corn) and it all felt quite adventurous.

I didn't steal any corn but we did take some flower seeds and bought thyme, chamomile, and mint plants, they will make my garden smell quite wonderful next summer I think.

This is my very crankiest of faces. I had to wait almost an hour in the middle of nowhere in Almere for a bus to bring me to the next middle of nowhere. It was cold.

I got new shoes! I had seen them before and wanted them, but T didn't like them and they were kind of expensive. But now they were 70% off, I had to have them! How perfectly witchy for Halloween :D

I take a picture with plants to see how well the shoes go with gardens. Quite well, I'd say!

For a while, I'd been seeing sheep quite randomly all over the city. First they were in the city's central park, then they were in front of a building for the elderly, and when I went back they had been moved across the road, to the riverbanks. It puzzled me for a long time.

Was there a shortage in lawnmowers? Was there a surplus in sheep? I found the answer in "news about trees" magazine:

Apparently, sheep keep giant hogweed at bay! How fun :)

I thought to divide pictures in things like "flowers" and "knitting" but I'm all throwing it into one big post! All these pictures were taken this weekend, well almost.

I dyed my hair even darker and borrowed someone's reading glasses!

This is me, secretly selfportraiting while pretending to work, in the Architecture Archives! I bought a watch, because now that I have a kind of job and live in the big city and am all adult-like in general, I felt I needed one. I love it, it has flowers :)

Here is the hat I crocheted for T :)

I spend 3 to 4 hours each day in trains and buses, and I thought I would read a lot, but I miss creating too much, so now I knit & crochet :) You'll probably see loads of scarves and hats coming up :D
