I went to a place where they had 46 flavours of icecream. I had nougat and chocolate-pepper, but only after I finished it I remembered I wanted toblerone flavour. So I'll have to go back :)

I passed my last exam of the year, with an 8, yay! Today is my first day of summer holidays.

Boredom has already set in. D: Is anyone else really excited for HP? I positively cry when I see the trailers.

I've been looking for elderberry everywhere this weekend, we used to eat it all the time as kids and it is so delicious, but I can't find any this year! Only tons of strawberries. I scared a frog to get these :D

A hat I knit
I knit a hat. It's not really hat weather but my job was just perfect for knitting, and I had this yarn around for a long time.

Here's something I've been working on for the past gazillion weeks... I can only give you a preview but it's terribly exciting! This dress will be a little famous for sure :)

If the Metamorphose skirt would just have a row of buttons down the front, I could claim they read my journal and steal my designs! How exciting that would be :D

I saw Repo the Genetic Opera the other day! I had seen the trailers and soundtrack and stuff but it still totally blew me away, it was amazing! Go see it if you haven't, it's truly wonderful :D

The mustache party was yesterday and it was the funnest thing. Everyone was drinking well carefully, wearing large Mario-style mustaches, trying not to get beer in it. Today at work we met Dutch celebrity Jort Kelder and got to comment on his short trousers! I'm not really into celebrities but it was pretty exciting. Also I went to Utrecht and arranged an internship for after the summer, I'm positively dreading it :/

I picked the rhubarb from my garden and ate it in my morning yogurt. (I cook rhubarb not with sugar but with honey and ginger syrup for extra deliciousness :)) In the last picture you can see me hunting for strawberries in my new vintage dress!

I'm back from my little beach holiday! I took some pics but haven't uploaded them yet, so first I'll post some outfit shot and pics from around the house.

(Once you learn to "lolify", you'll never be free of it. I still put lace bows on random objects. Also these are my home-grown herbs that are now full-sized and sit on the kitchen windowsill!)

I'm going on a short holiday to the beach! I'll be back some time next week. Here's a picture of the new books I bought (university library book sale: 6 books for €5!) and a peach cobbler I made as a thank-you.

peach cobbler
Peach cobbler is one of the tastiest things ever, and super easy to make. Here's how it works:

melt a bit of butter in a baking dish (I just pop it in the oven while it's preheating, at about 170 degrees). Stir together around 150 ml flour, 75 ml suger, 150 ml milk, and about a teaspoon of vanilla sugar. Then you pour it over the melted butter, drop as much canned peaches in the pan as will fit, and sprinkle with cinnamon. Then you bake it for 20 minutes, or untill it looks nice and brown and quite firm. To eat it, just spoon it from the pan :D Delish :)

The best, best, best thing of gardening is discovering your veggie plant growing actual vegetables, all baby sized, getting ready to be eaten in a little while!

moustachemoustache
I'm all ready for the moustache party! It's in two weeks :D

Just so this journal isn't just pictures of me, I want to write down what I've been reading, because I've been reading a lot, and maybe we can recommend eachother books for summer reading.

Confessions of an English Opium Eater - Thomas de Quincy
This book was quite interesting and fun in the beginning, and grew more boring gradually. It still was really nice though, and filled with opium dreams.

East Lynne - Mrs Henry Wood
I'm in the middle of reading this over at [info]serialsensation and so far, it's really nice, but a little confusing, because there are soooo many characters. For a Victorian novel, it's fairly fast-paced, which is nice.

Daniel Deronda - George Eliot
I would not recommend it unless you like reading twenty consecutive pages about the differences between Christians and Jews, and people looking for their identity. It's nice, but it's fairly boring.

An Oldfashioned Girl - Louisa M. Alcott
If you thought Little Women was sentimental and too cutesy, you should reaaally not read this. It's about a rich girl who is spoiled and dislikes her life, and a poor girl who is always morally right, and helps others along because she's always smiling and working hard. The end made me cry a lot, but I generally cry over books.

Chronicles of Narnia - C. S. Lewis
I read all except the last one, I got it as an e-book here: http://www.truly-free.org/. I'm really enjoying them a lot, and they also make me cry. If you only saw the movies, you should give them a shot, because they make excellent reading.

As I Lay Dying - Faulkner
I got this one from the same site because Faulkner's books aren't in the public domain yet. I haven't finished it but so far it's really nice, really Faulkner-ish, about the south of the US, a rural area, and someone who is dying.

Lots of things by Wilde but most specifically The Decay of Lying, Lord Arthur Savile's Crime and Other Stories, Pen, Pencil and Poison, The Portrait of Mr. W. H.
I read a lot of Wilde's plays but in my head they all muddle together, and I never know what I've read. I like his stories a lot more: there are some amazing fairytales, and everything mentioned above (except the Decay of Lying, which was a little boring) are great stories, really engaging and quite unusual.

The yellow dress was bought for sillyness, and so were these trousers (I think I do that a lot.) I do think they're cute though, I'm just not sure that I'll ever wear them :D

When dressed like this, there's also only one thing you can do: make a bento for your koibito (with little hearts :D)

Yumm!

Oh by the way I'm working an 11 hour shift today! Why? ;_;

This is not a new dress, I think I bought it last year, but I never took any pictures of it. I think it had sleeves and shoulderpads, which I took off. I bought it for sillyness only, because it was so very yellow, and only €10.

(Yep, I'm wearing lavender sneakers with it :D)
When dressed like this, there is only one thing you can do: make a proper home-cooked meal. I made carrot-sweet potato-curry, and accidentally made enough to feed 10 people.

No matter what Sex and the City told you, working in an art gallery is not glamorous! Yesterday I ran around, covered in dust and grime, cutting out bits of carpet to absorb vibrations of sound art, and today my muscles hurt like never before!

In other job news, my Dutch student turns out to be a Swedish guy! I really really love Sweden and make him talk about hjortronberries and midsommar a whole lot more than is strictly necessary. It's a little embarassing *.*

I've been freakishly busy and only had time to turn garments into other garments:
Stuff I made
I haven't even finished my snape coat yet! I'll be happy if this semester is over!

I really didn't feel like going at first because I was cold and hungry, but it ended up being so beautiful, the air smelled all sugary and there were lights and excited people. Here's some pictures I took.

I baked brownies for my coworkers, and the chocolatey smell filled my entire house. I got so hungry but couldn't eat a piece of it. I had a sammie with peanutbutter and sprinkles instead :D

I dreamed, most randomly, that I wanted to be a punk again and in order to do so, I stuck a safety pin through my cheek (they're not so safe after all!) The safety pin made me feel most sexy. It was puzzling.

Also I'm going to a mustache party! How awesome is that?

I have a lot of pictures to upload, I'll arrange them by subject.

Oh by the way, I got three new jobs now, all of them give me so little hours that together they make up a proper job! I am: a talking buddy for a Dutch student and am paid to talk about whatever and drink coffee, a translator for English and Dutch texts, and working at a new exhibition (the theme of which is, curiously enough, control. I know all about control. I'm right where I belong there XD)
